Question by goldengoddesstx: a book about a kid who goes to a world where no one thinks for themsleves.?
Kids bounced basketballs and people didnt think for themselves. In my mind ( and I know this doesn’t matter) but I pictured it in black and white and flashes of color. I think there was a machine who ran everything?

ideas for an activity so that preschool kids to learn?

Question by Hosgus™: ideas for an activity so that preschool kids to learn?
I need an activy that will teach preschoolers something about anything, I am a high schooler and it is a project I must do for that class, what is some activity I could do in order to do a presentation to the kids to learn something?

Reading a book to them was suggested or even just making something out of paper.
any help?

somethin about arts and crafts would be apreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by Khariel
Arts and crafts is a good way, but it would really depend on what you’re trying to teach them. It should be appropriate for the subject.

Say you’re teaching them how spiders make their webs. You could get some white yarn and black cardboard paper and show them how to make a spider’s web out of yarn.

Or if you’re teaching them about the solar system. Having them draw a model of a solar system is good.

You could teach them about different kinds of plants. You could have them pick flowers, dry them, make a collage, and list the differences between the types of plants in their notebooks.

Q&A: need a costume for world book day. can you help?

Question by Alocin: need a costume for world book day. can you help?
World book day is coming up and the kids have been asked to go dressed up as a character from a book.
I have 2 boys and 2 girls and they don’t want to go as something that’s going to be really popular.
Costumes we have used/made in the past include;
captain underpants
horrid henry
the great spaghetti suit (can’t remember the guy’s name)
the beanstalk
Rapunzel (bet that’s common this year)
Pippi longstocking
Miss Polly (nursery rhymes count)
Dorothy

We always try to make our own costumes so nothing extravagant please, unless you can tell me how to go about making it! lol
Thanks in advance!
the girls are 4 and 6 and the boys are 10 and 5.

Perhaps one of the kids involved with the future trip to a foreign country is wheelchair-bound and weeks before the trip his wheelchair is stolen and the class works at raising money for a new wheelchair or discovering who stole it??
Inevitably the wheelchair is found and everyone enjoys the class trip.

How strict are you with monitoring the books your kids read?

Question by Morte Et Dabo: How strict are you with monitoring the books your kids read?
For example: my friends mother would read every book she checked out from the library before she allowed her to read it, to make sure it met her standards. she wouldn’t let her read things with teen drinking, teen pregnancy, drugs, and the like.

Do you think this is a little extreme or what should be done? Are you really strict with what your kids can read or are you not really worried about it?

Best answer:

Answer by Superguy1221
To be honest, I don’t think my kids are stupid enough to commit a crime just because they read it in a book. I don’t censor anything for them.

Looking for books for that grade range but with a more serious tone- books that can get a kid thinking.

Good examples are Holes by Sachar or the Gathering Blue/The Giver/The Messenger trilogy by Lois Lowry.

Bad examples are Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney or The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey.
